The Collinsville Police Department reported their findings of a body near Stow-A-Way Properties in Collinsville at 5 a.m., Monday, Sept. 12. There was an abandoned vehicle on-site, which belonged to Collinsville native Douglas Selashmit, 48, who was known to collect recyclable items from refuse containers.
Selashmit was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the Madison County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation were assisting on-scene as well. Evidence indicated that there was no foul play involved; however, the cause of death is still unknown.
